Lin Brown, retreat leader

Lin Brown is a self taught professional artist. For 50 years her work has been exhibited and collected in the UK and abroad.

For several decades she has been a therapist, using philosophy, mindfulness, creativity and counselling in working with individuals and many different client groups. As a trainer, Lin is highly experienced and inspirational.

Lin passionately believes in the great benefits of both meditation and creativity from the heart for mind and spirit. These two came together some 30 years ago when Lin founded The Way Of Creativity, an annual programme of retreats for all.

For many years Lin's dedication and enthusiasm have drawn from others the confidence to experiment and explore, to question and take enjoyable risks. Each retreat is created by Lin and is original. Amazingly, over all the years, none have, as yet, been repeated.

Creative retreats

guided by Lin Brown

These inspiring one and two day retreats are a unique path into being creative whilst enjoying some all-important time for quiet, mindfulness and renewal.

They take place in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The focus is on creative activity (with a large range of materials provided over the year), along with cultivating a peaceful mind through breathing awareness and contemplation, based in time-honoured wisdom. All encouragement and support is given to develop your own imaginative ideas and responses.

That everyone expresses themselves in their own way adds great richness to the experience. Ideas arise in the moment, with a spontaneous grace of their own...

If your group would like a custom-made retreat or training with Lin, please leave a message in the 'contact' section.

Welcome to THE WAY OF CREATIVITY PROGRAMME 2019 in brief

No previous artistic experience is needed on any of the retreats; all art materials included

SATURDAY 9th FEBRUARY:
 COLOURS OF LIGHT

A winter retreat to lift the darkness into light, think Aurora, rainbows, sparkling snow crystals...All media used on this meditative and inspiring day will be translucent; alongside beautiful meditations, we’ll create radiance in all we do!

SATURDAY 23rd MARCH:
GARDEN OF THE HEART

A stirring retreat of inner renewal to prepare for the coming spring; a nourishing day meditatively tending the inner garden, ready for the planting of seeds. Our creative blossoming within is at one with the loveliness of nature’s flourishing.

SATURDAY 11th & SUNDAY 12th MAY:
WOVEN BY EARTH

A relaxing weekend retreat to reflect on the elements - Earth, Air, Water, Fire - using textiles, weaving and gathered natural objects to create wall-hangings vibrant in colour and texture. Wonderfully freeing and deliciously enjoyable!

SATURDAY 6th JULY:
 SUMMER SONG

What is the song of summer? Dawn chorus and early dew, sunshine and showers, warm evenings and summer moonlight ...and tapestry of life, of interbeing and light. Within and without, from microcosm to macrocosm, we contemplate and create!

SATURDAY 7th SEPTEMBER:
BREATHING, SEEING, DRAWING

“The Meaning of Life is to see,” said the seventh century Zen sage Hui Neng. The moment the eye opens up, all becomes equally fascinating, inspiring, and humbling. That we can ALL draw is to discover a wonder-inducing and profound spiritual resource within each one of us.

SATURDAY 12th & SUNDAY 13th OCTOBER:
 SANCTUM

By ever-popular request, this weekend we’ll be up to the elbows in plaster, clay, wood, paint - who knows? - peacefully and mindfully creating a sacred object for the home. Plenty of time and space to be blissfully engrossed, for sure.

SATURDAY 16th NOVEMBER: CULTIVATING GRATITUDE, PATHWAY TO PEACE

With a gently mindful practice of gratitude, we can effortlessly transform the ‘humdrum’ moments of life into deep contentment, turn routine tasks into heartfelt joy, and always stay connected to silver linings in difficult times. Beautiful sustenance for the spirit!
